Education meeting discussion

The Roba Catering and Hospitality Project aims to empower 100 women and girls from Yei, Morobo, and Lainya counties in its first year through practical training and livelihood opportunities. With a total proposed budget of USD 15,000, the project will establish a cafeteria that serves as both an income-generating business and a learning space.

Participants will develop skills in food preparation, baking, food hygiene, customer service, and hospitality operations. Training will also cover budgeting, pricing, recordkeeping, savings, and small business management, helping participants prepare for employment or establish their own catering enterprises.

Using locally available ingredients and promoting local dishes, the project will seek to purchase supplies from farmers and traders within the surrounding communities. This approach will connect skills development with opportunities for local businesses while helping participants learn practical, affordable ways to serve their customers.

Roba will prioritise women and girls facing barriers to education, training, and employment, including young mothers and those from vulnerable households. Flexible learning arrangements will help participants balance training with school and family responsibilities. For school-age girls, activities will complement formal education. For adult women, improved earning opportunities can strengthen financial independence, household stability, and family well-being.

In collaboration with government authorities, community leaders, women’s groups, and businesses, the project will promote safe, inclusive participation and provide mentorship. Revenue from cafeteria sales and catering services will contribute towards operating costs and continued training.

We invite community members, development partners, businesses, and well-wishers to support this initiative through financial contributions, kitchen equipment, training materials, mentorship, or employment opportunities. Support with suitable premises, local supplies, and catering orders will also help turn this vision into lasting opportunities.

Together, we can help women and girls gain confidence, build sustainable livelihoods, continue learning, and contribute to stronger families and thriving communities across the three counties and the wider region.
