Our heritage, our stories, and our progress—connected in one digital home.
Under the directives and supervision of the Chairman of the Kakuwa Community, Hon. Dada Isaac Lemi, the Kakuwa Community developed a website to serve as a shared digital home for our people in South Sudan and around the world. With a project budget of USD 980, this initiative provides a platform for strengthening connections, preserving our heritage, and sharing community information.
Connecting Our Community
The website aims to bring together activities, updates, and contributions from Kakuwa sub-communities and diaspora community associations under one platform. It offers a space to share achievements, everyday experiences, development priorities, and challenges, helping our people remain informed and connected wherever they live.
Through community news, project updates, announcements, and stories, the platform will promote participation and cooperation across generations and geographical boundaries. It will also help members, partners, and well-wishers learn about community initiatives and opportunities to support them.
Preserving Our Heritage
Rooted in our cultural heritage and historical record, the website aims to consolidate and document Kakuwa history, values, norms, and traditions. It will support the preservation of cultural knowledge through written accounts, photographs, oral histories, and digital records of cultural artefacts.
Contributions from elders, cultural custodians, and knowledgeable community members will be important in ensuring that information is accurate, respectful, and representative. Cultural materials should be shared with appropriate permission and regard for knowledge that communities consider private or sacred.
Educating Future Generations
The platform seeks to help young and upcoming generations understand their origins, appreciate their identity, and learn from the experiences of those who came before them. For families in the diaspora, it provides another way to maintain connections with their heritage and community life.
Help Our Digital Home Grow
We invite sub-community leaders, diaspora associations, elders, youth, and partners to contribute verified histories, community updates, photographs, and ideas. Continued participation and support will help keep the website relevant, informative, and reflective of our shared experiences.
Together, we can preserve our stories, celebrate our identity, and keep the Kakuwa community connected for generations to come.
