Education meeting discussion

Celebrating unity, strengthening dialogue, and advancing youth-led peace.

The Kakuwa Community successfully held the Youth for Peace and Development Conference in Yei, bringing together many young people from Lainya, Morobo, and Yei counties. The colourful gathering celebrated community unity and provided a platform for meaningful discussions on peace, livelihoods, and the role of young people in shaping our shared future.

Elders from all three counties joined the youth, offering guidance, sharing experience, and contributing to the discussions. Their participation strengthened connections between generations and reinforced a shared commitment to peaceful coexistence and community development.

Dialogue, Guidance, and Shared Commitments

Under the leadership of Community Chairman Dada Isaac Lemi, the conference brought community leadership and young people together to discuss local challenges and identify opportunities for collective action.

Participants explored youth participation in peacebuilding, stronger cooperation across the three counties, and pathways towards improved livelihoods. The exchange of ideas between youth and elders encouraged mutual understanding and a shared sense of responsibility for the community’s progress.

Resolutions were adopted to guide follow-up action and inform the Kakuwa Community’s peace and development efforts. These commitments provided a foundation for continued dialogue, youth engagement, and collaboration.

Project Cost and the Next Conference

The conference was delivered at a total cost of USD 10,250. We extend our appreciation to the youth, elders, community leaders, and everyone who contributed to making the gathering colourful and successful.

Building on this achievement, the next Youth for Peace and Development Conference will take place in Morobo in April 2027, with a proposed budget of USD 10,250.

We invite community members, partners, and well-wishers to support the forthcoming conference through financial contributions, transport, refreshments, materials, and technical expertise.

Together, we can carry these shared commitments forward and create more opportunities for young people to lead, cooperate, and contribute to lasting peace across our communities.
